The Sygenta 5 Golden Rules

For the Responsible Handling of Crop Protection Products (CPPs)

Understanding the proper way to use and handle pesticides could be the difference between a bountiful harvest and a sudden disaster. Here are a few tips for the safe and effective handling of CPPs:

1. Always read the label - Make sure you read and understand the information on the label before using the product. If unsure, seek advice from your H&L Agro associate.

2. Exercise caution at all times - Handle the product carefully at all times to prevent personal contact and environmental contamination. Store locked away from children, animals and water sources.

3. Always maintain good personal 3 hygiene - Wash clothes used during pesticide application separately from everyday clothes. Do not eat, drink or smoke when handling CPPs.

4. Adjust and keep your application equipment in optimal working condition - Check application equipment regularly for leaks or damage. Keep clean and ensure it is well maintained and calibrated.

5. Always wear the appropriate personal protective equipment recommended for mixing and applying the product - It is essential to wear the personal protective equipment as depicted in the pictogram on the product label. Ensure that all pieces of personal protective equipment are tear and hole-free.

Always remember that taking care of your health and that of your family, and the protection of the environment is everyone’s responsibility.
